Why Give Local Piedmont Is The Best Thing You’ll Do All Year

Tuesday, May 3 will be one of the most significant days in 2016 for our community. If you haven’t heard of Give Local Piedmont, here’s the best way to explain it:

It’s a 24-hour period in which anyone can make an online donation to nonprofits that make the Fauquier, Culpeper, Madison and Rappahannock communities stronger and more vibrant.

What’s so moving about this event is the overwhelming generosity it inspires in such a short timeframe. Last year, more than 5,000 donations totaled over $700,000—and it all happened in the hours between midnight and midnight.

The positive impact of this kind of giving is boundless, not just because of the funding, but because of the awareness it creates for nonprofits. Thanks to donors just like you and me, our communities may continue their focus on arts and culture, animal welfare, health, the environment, public safety, youth development and education.

That brings us to the Fauquier Excellence in Education Foundation (EIE). Few things hit closer to home for us than the welfare of our children. This year, among the local nonprofits that Vint Hill has chosen to support, we’d like to recognize this vital organization, which promotes excellence in our public schools by providing enrichment opportunities for teachers, students and staff.

Whether you choose to support EIE or another nonprofit on the list, we encourage you to research causes that are close to your heart, pick a favorite nonprofit (or two or three), and donate. The minimum donation is just $10, so you can do a whole lot of good in 24 hours.

We’re excited to come together as one. Let’s make our community an even better place to live!
