Northern Piedmont Federal Credit Union (NPCFU) has completed its merger with Charlottesville-based UVA Community Credit Union, which has 14 locations in Virginia. The merger means NPFCU branches on Aiken Drive in Vint Hill and Blackwell Road in Warrenton are now part of the UVA Community Credit Union family. They’re also part of a growing community at Vint Hill.
“This merger comes at a unique time,” said Vint Hill Village President Ed Moore. “There are a lot of changes going on simultaneously around the credit union’s particular block [4257 Aiken Drive]. There’s excitement about the new coffee shop coming to Vint Hill, and we’ve just kicked off our summer block party series. Most importantly, the credit union’s growing presence here fits right into our larger vision of Aiken Drive as the ‘main street’ of Vint Hill.”
“Vint Hill has undergone major changes to bring businesses and the community together,” said Janine Williams, UVA Community Credit Union’s Vice President of Marketing. “Our tagline is ‘Be part of something.’ We feel that is very appropriate for what’s happening around our Vint Hill branch.”
NPCFU and UVA Community Credit Union share some auspicious parallels. Both were founded in 1954 with a similar mission, operational structure and set of values. This includes a strong commitment to financial literacy and community outreach. Their collective dedication to member service will ensure that the merger gives members access to a larger menu of products and services for personal and business accounts. This includes a robust online banking platform and a mobile app with mobile deposit features.
UVA Community Credit Union’s Northern Piedmont Regional Director and former NPFCU President Dortha Johnson emphasized that the merger is an excellent fit and that members are in good hands.
“UVA Community Credit Union shares our institution’s values and offers the same excellent personal service you’d expect from your member-owned credit union,” said Johnson. “I have been working closely with the staff at UVA Community Credit Union, and everything I have learned only reinforces my belief that our members will benefit substantially from the merger.”
The new credit union also recently expanded its field of membership to include Culpeper, Fauquier and Rappahannock Counties.
“As our name suggests, we are a community-based organization,” said Johnson. “ We are dedicated to helping our members realize their financial goals and thus strengthen the communities in which they live, work and attend schools. We are proud to be part of this vibrant Vint Hill community!”
